Tax Support Team Lead

Job Summary:

The Payroll Tax Support Lead supports the Tax Support Manager and amendment team to achieve organizational goals of the department. The Team Lead serves as a subject matter expert regarding amendments for federal, state, and local taxes and establishing best practices. This position provides direction and technical guidance to less experienced amendment staff.


Core Job Duties:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding amendments for federal, state, and local payroll tax and reporting to support partners.
  • Assists with establishing best practices and process improvements for the amendment team.
  • Works with the Tax Support Manager to ensure amendments and payments are timely and accurate.
  • Ensures escalations are completed timely and amendment payment logs are completed.
  • Plays an integral role in hiring and training staff members.
  • Builds and maintains successful relationships with cross-functional teams (Operations, Support, HCM and Treasury)
  • Assists or handles complex amendment issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers and coworkers.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-starter who has experience with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong customer service skills are required.
  • Ability to handle a busy working environment with multiple deadlines
  • Possess strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' experience with payroll tax amendments and compliance
  • Experience handling amendments with federal, state, and local taxes.
  • Experience with notice resolution in federal, state, and local agencies.
