Tax Operations Team Lead

Job Summary:

The Payroll Tax Operations Lead supports the Tax Operations Manager and team to achieve organizational goals of the department. The Team Lead serves as a subject matter expert regarding federal, state, and local taxes and establishing best practices. This position provides direction and technical guidance to less experienced staff.


Core Job Duties:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding federal, state, local, and Puerto Rico payroll tax and reporting to support partners.
  • Assists with establishing tax operations best practices and process improvements
  • Works with the Tax Operations Manager to ensure tax filings and payments are timely and accurate.
  • Co-manages quarter-end and year-end process.
  • Ensures daily checklists for Sox compliance are followed and validated.
  • Plays an integral role in hiring and training staff members
  • Builds and maintains successful relationships with cross-functional teams (Treasury and Implementation)
  • Independently handles escalation management, and researches complex filing issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and in a constructive manner with management, peers and coworkers.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-starter who has experience with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Ability to handle a busy working environment with multiple deadlines
  • Possess strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree and 2-4 years' experience with payroll tax filings and compliance
  • Experience working with local tax withholding requirements in OH, IN, PA, and KY
