Senior Tax Manager

Location: Charlotte

Job Summary:

This position is a new role that will lead the build-out of a consolidated team for the Company's core lines of business. We are seeking an experienced Manager focused on evaluating and developing key processes that improve efficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and enhance collection efforts.

Core Job Duties:

• Key component of the position is keeping the company in full compliance with multi-state sales and use tax regulations as it pertains to all product lines of the company. This task includes but is not limited to, working with our 3rd party consultants on VDA's, non VDA registrations, and taxability research.
• Position is responsible for all operational aspects of Avalara, our sales tax software engine, including all set up, testing, and reconciliation. Must drive project management with the Avalara project team on all aspects of the process from set up to maintenance utilizing Avalara's AvaTax, CertCapture, and tax registration and filing modules.
• Must be able to answer questions, perform research and provide guidance for the company as well as customers concerning the company's sales tax compliance policy.
• Position is responsible for sales and use tax reviews to ensure correct amounts are being charged and remitted to state jurisdictions.
• Must ensure that all registrations are updated and complete.
• Must manage any sales tax audits.
• Additional responsibility of property taxes and gross receipts taxes to include preparing tax returns, forms and supporting schedules for assigned projects.
• Prepare state tax registrations and other forms to include annual filings.
• Work with Corporate Controller to document tax accounting policies and procedures.
• Work to develop and incorporate process improvements for all aspects of tax management.
• Assist with special tax related projects as needed.
• Assist with acquisition accounting as it pertains to the tax functions.
• Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time by the Corporate Controller.
• Assist other team members as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must have excellent communication skills and be able to move through roadblocks as well as work with remote subsidiaries.
• Must have the ability to take initiative, be self-directed and results oriented.
• Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• Demonstrated tax experience, preferably in a SaaS/HRIS/HCM environment.
