Summary/objective

The Senior Manager, Content Marketing leads the development, governance, and performance of marketing content aligned to campaign, brand, and business objectives. This role is responsible for delivering high-impact content across formats and channels to support awareness, engagement, and conversion throughout the buyer journey. The role manages a team of writers and content producers and works closely with stakeholders across demand marketing, brand, creative, product marketing, and partner marketing.


Core Job Duties

  • Lead end-to-end development of content deliverables including blogs, case studies, eBooks, video scripts, thought leadership, and campaign copy
  • Partner with demand generation teams to align content strategy with pipeline and bookings goals
  • Translate complex product and partner messaging into clear, accessible narratives and campaign themes
  • Own and enforce content governance policies including rights management, brand voice, and compliance
  • Collaborate with SEO and analytics teams to improve discoverability and performance of key content assets
  • Maintain an editorial calendar aligned to campaign themes, business priorities, and audience needs
  • Measure and report content effectiveness; identify optimization opportunities and test new formats
  • Contribute to content syndication strategy and ensure third-party placements align with messaging
  • Support customer marketing and reference efforts through customer interviews and asset creation
  • Streamline production processes and introduce efficiencies in content development workflows
  • Mentor and manage team members, fostering collaboration, professional development, and quality output

Job Complexity

Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods,techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules,work plans, and performance requirements.


Interaction

Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive

situations, without damage to the relationship.


Supervision

Typically manages activities of two or more sections or departments. Develops proven structure and processes that helps their team achieve results. Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. In some instances, this manager may have subordinate supervisors.


Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of direct experience, with 5+ years of management experience.


Scope

Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation.

Involved in developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Leads hiring efforts for their team and determines headcount.


Discretion

Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in B2B content marketing or editorial roles
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams or managing cross-functional content projects
  • Strong portfolio of marketing content that demonstrates an ability to engage and convert audiences
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice to various formats and personas
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and content collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs, project management platforms)
  • Experience supporting demand generation campaigns and working with campaign teams
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple content tracks simultaneously
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Yes, up to 15% domestic travel may be required.
