Summary/objective

The Senior Events Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, planning, and execution of internal and external events that support organizational objectives, strengthen brand visibility, and reinforce customer engagement. This role oversees the event lifecycle-including calendar development, budget management, vendor coordination, and logistics execution-while aligning events with broader marketing and business strategies. The Senior Events Manager also maintains department infrastructure related to budgeting, inventory, reporting, and vendor relationships.


Core Job Duties

  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of the annual events calendar, including virtual and in-person engagements
  • Establish and manage event budgets; monitor expenses and ROI to ensure cost-effective delivery
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of event logistics, including vendor coordination, travel, venue setup, branded inventory, and staffing plans
  • Support internal departments and senior leaders with planning and execution of company-sponsored events
  • Supervise onsite logistics and lead the events team during setup, execution, and breakdown
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes and systems for event planning, financial tracking, historical data, and post-event analysis
  • Establish and report on event KPIs; gather feedback and analyze outcomes to inform future strategy
  • Manage payables and coordinate event-related reconciliation with accounting
  • Maintain documentation for vendor relationships, event tools, branded merchandise, and department infrastructure
  • Identify and recommend participation in industry or market-specific events that align with strategic priorities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional event planning and internal stakeholder coordination

Job Complexity

Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods,techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules,work plans, and performance requirements.


Interaction

Regularly interacts with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers. Requires the ability to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive

situations, without damage to the relationship.


Supervision

Typically manages activities of two or more sections or departments. Develops proven structure and processes that helps their team achieve results. Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. In some instances, this manager may have subordinate supervisors.


Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of direct experience, with 5+ years of management experience.


Scope

Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinates. Senior management reviews objectives to determine success of operation.

Involved in developing, modifying, and executing company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Leads hiring efforts for their team and determines headcount.


Discretion

Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent events
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions under pressure and balance competing deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to interact with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Experience overseeing budgets, vendor contracts, and post-event reporting
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in event management or marketing operations
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification preferred but not required

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.


Travel Required

Yes, up to 50% domestic travel may be required.
