Summary/objective
The Platform Engineer designs and develops self-service tooling and developer portals to streamline environment provisioning while integrating CI/CD, monitoring, and security systems. By eliminating development friction, the engineer will accelerate iteration cycles and foster innovation. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize workflows and may contribute to additional software projects as needed, continuously refining the platform based on user feedback to drive efficiency and innovation.
Core Job Duties
- Develop and maintain self-service tooling and developer portals.
- Automate environment provisioning and management using IaC.
- Integrate CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Enforce robust security and compliance practices within the platform.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and IT.
- Gather and act on developer feedback to continuously improve the developer experience.
- Develop and maintain user interface controls, business logic, and SQL Server stored procedures
- Participate in other software development projects as required.

Supervision
Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
Experience
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of relevant platform engineering and software development
- 5+ years large enterprise or e-business systems experience
- 5+ years expersirnce developing software solutions
- Experience creating and maintaining a robust developer platform
- Ability to work independently to research and solve complex problems.
- Strong skills with: Developer Platform, Azure, Microservice Architecture, C#, SQL, .NET, Javascript
- Experience with development of Internal Developer Portals, e.g. Backstage
- CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Experience with DevSecOps tools like SonarQube, GitHub Advanced Security etc
- Python, C#, .Net, Angular, SQL Server, Azure CosmosDB or other NoSQL database
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with large (500+ database table) system development a plus
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Required
Yes, up to 15% domestic travel may be required.
