LMS Web Developer

A Day in the Life as LMS Developer

Start your day by reviewing support emails from current customers that have been escalated to the development staff, followed by reviewing the current development tasks that need to be completed in the current sprint (release cycle) and choosing tasks to complete based on their priority and estimated completion time.

Once a plan is laid out, it's time to start up the development environment for the LMS and write some code. Our team is constantly connected via email, instant messaging, and by phone and you can never ask too many questions. Got a tricky architecture problem? Not sure how something was built? Can't find that library that you know you saw last week? Just send another developer a message and they'll help you out. Once you've got the development item complete and ready to go, commit your changes using Git and then move on to the next item.

When the sprint is ending, it's time to review our code and make sure that everything is working as intended. Write some automated tests, run some manual tests, get help testing from other team members, and when you're ready, get everything staged for deployment to production so our customers can start using your awesome new feature as soon as it's available!

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, and develop new features for isolved's custom Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Work with other developers using Version Control (Git) to manage simultaenous updates to the product's codebase.
  • Work with our internal team of designers to procure the needed graphical elements to enable front-end development.
  • Offer support to existing customers with technical questions and immediate bug fixes (hotfixes) as required.
  • Find innovative ways to meet challenges set by the company to meet industry expectations.
  • Contribute your own ideas for new features, ways the product can improve, and systems we can put in place internally to assist development, design, support, and our customers.
  • Use project management software (JIRA and Trello) to keep track of product releases, features, priorities, communication, assets, deadlines, and workflow.
