Summary/objective
The Director, Outbound Business Development is responsible for leading a team focused on outbound prospecting and pipeline development across isolved's HCM platform. This role is central to driving early-stage revenue activity by creating new opportunities through strategic outreach and sales development. The Director will lead a team of Business Development Managers and Representatives, ensuring consistent execution, effective coaching, and scalable processes. This position works closely with Sales Leadership to align on pipeline targets, optimize handoff strategies, and improve outbound conversion rates.
Core Job Duties
- Lead and develop Business Development Managers and their teams to execute high-volume, high-quality outbound prospecting strategies
- Create and implement outbound sales strategies that generate qualified discovery meetings for isolved's sales organization
- Manage weekly performance reviews and team reporting, using data to drive individual and team accountability
- Coach and mentor BDRs and Managers on effective outreach, objection handling, discovery, and handoff execution
- Partner with Sales Leadership to ensure seamless pipeline transition and optimize lead-to-opportunity conversion
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales Enablement teams to align messaging, outreach cadences, and market targeting
- Establish and maintain best practices for outbound engagement using isolved's CRM and sales tools
- Ensure consistency and quality in messaging across the outbound team to elevate isolved's brand in early prospect interactions
- Foster a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, coaching, and career development
- Drive ongoing refinement of processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and conversion metrics
Job Complexity
Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
Interaction
Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
Supervision
Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area, typically through several department managers within the company. Strong understanding of people management strategies and how to develop leaders in their function to be successful. Builds and supports high functioning, motivated teams. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.
Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of direct experience, with 5+ years of leadership experience. May require advanced degree.
Scope
Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures operations effective achievement of objectives. Able to lead and support their function while continually achieving impact and improvements across all areas.
Discretion
Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent applicable business experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in outbound business development or sales operations, preferably in SaaS or B2B environments
- Proven success in managing and scaling high-performing sales development teams
- Experience coaching frontline managers and reps to improve sales behaviors and outcomes
- Strong command of CRM platforms and sales enablement tools
- Exceptional communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Results-driven leader with a focus on execution, continuous improvement, and team development
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to broader revenue strategy
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
Travel Required
Yes, up to 15% domestic travel may be required.
