Summary/objective

The Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) is responsible for leading enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, integrating strategic change, digital innovation, process optimization, and cultural transformation to drive sustainable business growth.



Core Job Duties

Strategic Leadership & Transformation Execution

  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide transformation strategies to drive business growth, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Partner with executive leadership (CEO, CPTO, CMO, CSO, CFO, CCO, CHRO, etc.) to align transformation initiatives with corporate goals.
  • Lead organizational change management efforts, ensuring a smooth transition for employees, customers, and stakeholders.

AI & Digital Transformation

  • Identify opportunities for business model evolution, ensuring transformation efforts future-proof the company against industry disruption.
  • Work closely with finance leadership to ensure transformation initiatives are financially viable and deliver long-term ROI.
  • Ensure transformation initiatives are integrated across all business units to align with corporate vision and deliver measurable impact.
  • Oversee the implementation of AI, automation, and data-driven processes to optimize business operations.
  • Identify and deploy emerging technologies (AI, cloud, IoT, RPA, analytics) to enhance productivity and decision-making.

Business Process Optimization & Operational Efficiency

  • Redesign and optimize end-to-end business processes to improve agility, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and agile methodologies for continuous process improvement.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track transformation success.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Change Management

  • Lead a cross-functional transformation team across product, technology, finance, HR and operations.
  • Drive cultural change initiatives, ensuring employees adopt new ways of working.
  • Develop and execute training programs to upskill employees in digital transformation and AI adoption.

Governance, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Establish governance frameworks to ensure transformation initiatives align with industry regulations and internal policies.

  • Mitigate risks associated with large-scale change, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Collaborate with the CISO, CIO, and CTO to ensure digital transformation initiatives meet cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance standards.

Job Complexity

Guides and inspires others to work with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Sets strategy and guides senior leaders in identifying and evaluating fundamental issues and direction for business unit(s). Requires in-depth knowledge of the business unit, business strategies, and the company's goals.


Interaction

Interacts internally and externally with executive and C-Level level management, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters. Influences policymaking.


Supervision

Directs and controls the activities of one or more business unit, division, product groups or service areas through senior leaders who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas. Clear expertise as a leader and operator.


Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of direct experience, with 10+ years of leadership experience. May require advanced degree.


Scope

Sets direction, strategy, and vision for business unit(s). Holds senior leaders accountable for results. Helps shape, exemplify, and hold senior leaders accountable to the management standards of the company. Approves corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizes their implementation. Inspires senior leaders to develop innovative concepts and promote new ideas. Drives meaningful impact and improvements across multiple functions or business units; strategically plans for how people and processes scale.


Discretion

Erroneous decisions will have a significant long-term effect on the company's success.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in digital transformation, business strategy, or technology innovation.
  • Strong background in AI, automation, and emerging technologies for business efficiency.
  • Expertise in business process optimization (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, RPA, BPM, etc.).
  • Experience managing large-scale change initiatives across multiple business units.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT, cloud, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale transformation initiatives with demonstrated business impact (e.g., revenue growth, cost savings, customer experience improvements).
  • Excellent executive leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading AI/ML-driven initiatives to drive transformation.
  • Background in industries with complex digital transformation needs (e.g., SaaS, finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, HR tech).
  • MBA or advanced degree in business, technology, or strategy.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to: Chief Product & Technology Officer
  • Works closely with: CPTO, CTO, CISO, CCO, CFO, CHRO

Success Metrics (KPIs):

  • Operational Efficiency Gains: Reduction in costs, process cycle time, and manual effort through automation.
  • AI & Digital Adoption Rates: Increased usage of AI and digital tools across teams.
  • Revenue Growth & Scalability: Direct impact on top-line growth and ability to scale transformation efforts.
  • Employee & Customer Experience: Measured improvements in employee productivity and customer satisfaction.


Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift to 15 pounds.



Travel Required

Yes, up to 50% domestic travel may be required.
