Operations & Security Engineer
Summary/objective
The Operations & Security Engineer is responsible for engineering activities that monitor, detect and report potential security threats and vulnerabilities to isolved's processing hardware, software and Information Technology (IT) systems. The person in this role will also be a key contributor in developing "play books" and processes to respond to security events as well as presenting root cause and trending analysis reports to the Cyber Security team, and peer departments to drive awareness and optimize continuous improvement initiatives. This role will also collaborate with the Cyber Security Team as they develop policy, implement governance, and audit performance to those standards.
Core Job Duties
- Provide expertise in cyber intelligence, operations support, cloud migration and technology transformation to enable isolved to anticipate change and solutions.
- SME and authority on operations and security related topics • Improve, maintain, and add automation to new and existing systems
- Train and mentor peers and IT project teams providing guidance and consultation related to cyber security.
- Analyze, interpret, and present security recommendations to IT management, IT staff, peers and non-technical team members to drive understanding, awareness, and adoption of sound security practices.
- Administer systems by actively managing patching, routine maintenance and backups to include the scheduling and execution of related tasks.
- Liaise with Cyber Security and Operations teams to ensure procedures are followed, updated, and implemented.
- Participate in relevant meetings regarding change, incident or problem management.
- Identify, diagnoses, and resolves performance issues and trends impacting system availability or expected behavior and works to incorporate them into the problem management process.
- Work to improve the protection systems in place by continually monitoring both the internal control environment and the external threat environment and engaging 3rd party resources we have in place as part of our SOC

Experience
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of Systems Engineering or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, certifications, military experience, education
- 3-5 years of technical troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with administration of tools and technologies for SEIM, CASB, MDR, DLP, etc.
- Fortinet Network Security Expert certification (NSE) or equivalent experience required or willingness to obtain after hired Additional Preferred Qualifications
- Security+ or other related cybersecurity, risk, and compliance certifications
- CISSP or other related cybersecurity, risk, and compliance certifications
- Experience with enterprise-grade, industry leading cybersecurity solutions
- Knowledge of current threat landscape (threat actors, APT, cyber-crime, etc.)
- Knowledge of Windows and Unix or Linux • Conduct risk assessment, required controls definition, control procedure appropriateness, vulnerability assessments and any other relevant areas.
- Contribute to the definition, development, and oversight of a global security management strategy and framework.
- Certifications in ITIL
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Travel Required Yes, up to 15% domestic travel may be required. Work Authorization Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. FLSA Classification Exempt
