Design and development of isolved time clock product offering and supporting production tools. Provides management, guidance, and support to reporting developers, is a subject matter expert in multiple application areas, and plays a leadership role on the hardware and software scrum teams. Participate on an agile team to groom and estimate backlog items. Assist in hardware development. Collaborate with hardware design teams and clock module vendors and selecting and incorporating hardware options.

Core Job Duties

• Design/develop firmware for microprocessor/microcontroller based time clock products

• Design/Develop control functions for hardware devices to read magnetic stripe, bar code and various RF card technologies

• Design/Develop control functions for finger sensors and camera to implement biometric capabilities

• Measure and tune product performance to meet performance design criteria

Investigate, diagnose and correct product malfunctions

• Evaluate and select new technology for incorporating in product life cycle design

• Serve as an alternate contact to the product owners and external teams for the VP of Hardware Development and Manufacturing

• Serve as an alternative contact for clock production support

• Assist in servicing third level support requests

• Establishes requirements for creating blueprints when designing hardware components for optimal manufacturability.

• Makes certain that porotype errors are properly troubleshooted and that modifications to design are made as needed.

• Assist in architecture decisions, design updates and selecting/implementing technology updates incorporated in the product.

• Assist in ensuring quality standards are met and that the product meets usability standards.

• Ensure coding meets applicable expectations via pull requests and timely code reviews.

• Responsible for the team's scrum master role, allowing other teams members to serve in this capacity where appropriate.

• Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.


Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 12 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD in computer science or electronics engineering with 8 years of related experience; or equivalent experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working with product owners/managers to guide feature specification requirements definition

• Understanding of SQL database technology and software as a service host offerings and their relation to the timeclock products

• Basic understanding of electronic circuits, schematics, and development processes

• Technical expertise and experience in design and development of embedded systems

• Excellent in C/C++ embedded development tools

• Basic understanding of C# development tools

• Cross compile development to Linux O/S run time environment

• Cross compile development for non-O/S based platforms

• Proficient in QT widget development

• Proficient with QML, HTML and Javascript languages

• Proficient with intelligent peripherals interfaces controlled via command/status interfaces.

• Proficient with source code control using Git/TFS

• Agile development using TFS for sprint planning/tracking

• Proficient with office productivity tools and overall computer skills

• Problem solving and root cause analysis skills

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience

• Master's Degree in Computer Science/Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience, with 5+ years development experience in related technologies preferred

• 1+ year of supervisory experience

• Experience supporting production processes, including developing ad hoc test processes, procedures, and fixtures

• Experience in Time and Attendance application areas

• Understanding of SQL database technology

• Understanding of electronic circuits and schematics

• Familiarity or experience with hardware design tools

• Experience/understanding of Azure hosted environment management and problem investigation techniques

Physical Demands

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
