Job Overview: The System Engineer will provide level 3 support for iSolved proprietary SAAS offerings along with IT infrastructure, core operating software, application performance, storage, and connectivity between servers, switches and routers.  Main responsibilities are conducting server builds, configuring, optimizing, and fine-tuning operating systems, troubleshooting and resolving system hardware and networking issues as well as additional duties as assigned.  This position is part of a motivated team of professionals with focused responsibilities and broad opportunities for technology exposure. The position's responsibilities require independent analyses, communication and problem solving.  Work is performed with minimal supervision and pre-established guidelines.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide level 3 support for critical production SaaS application
Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance to application administrators and application developers.  Perform release changes.
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
Work with IT Security team to design and implement database security models. 
Maintain index management and statistics. Configure, manage and perform backups, restores, and routine database management tasks.
Monitoring and improving database(s) uptime and performance.
Planning for growth and expansion.
Monitor server hardware and software at all times, either through manual or automatic processes.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining system security and for taking proper steps to prevent and detect security breaches.
Determine system benchmarks and quality control standards for software and hardware installations.
Assist with designing robust backup schedules and perform restorations.
Provide infrastructure support to end-users.
On a rotating basis serve as the on-call system engineer responding to critical problems.
Other duties as assigned.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in the field of computer science and/or at least 5 years' experience working as a Systems Engineer is required. You should possess a strong attention to detail and strong problem solving skills to succeed in this role.
5 years SQL Server management, design, optimization, configuration and support skills.
5 years of experience with virtualization platform and storage infrastructure
5 years of experience working in critical service production environments.
Experience with Microsoft operating systems; including Windows 10, Server 2012R2/16, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012, 2014, and 2016. 
Thorough knowledge and experience administering servers in domain environment including installing, troubleshooting and configuring DNS, DHCP, IIS, Group Policy, User/Group administration, auditing event logs.
Experience with VMware and vSphere Infrastructure, solid understanding of virtualization concepts.
Solid experience with PowerShell scripting
 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Network administration experience (LAN/WAN connectivity, network architecture, network security concepts, firewall administration, remote connectivity (VPN), subnetting, VLANs, TCP/IP concepts).
Familiarity with network and systems monitoring tools such as Solarwinds.
Familiarity with Linux a plus.
Familiarity with cloud based backup methods and tools. 
SAN technology experience, iscsi and fc knowledge.
Familiarity working with third party hosting services
Documentation skills for processes and procedures
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
