Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will design, configure, and maintain our Azure, M365 and on-prem IT infrastructure. This includes supporting cloud applications, virtual and physical systems, networking, security, storage, and troubleshooting both on-prem and Azure environments. Seeks to continually improve and maintain operational excellence of our services for both internal and external customers. This position is part of a motivated team of professionals with focused responsibilities and broad opportunities for technology exposure. The position's responsibilities require independent analyses, communication and problem solving. Work is performed with minimal supervision and pre-established guidelines.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Plan, document, and execute on complex projects within an Azure environment.
  • Maintain and support our server, networking, and cloud infrastructures.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining system security and for taking proper steps to prevent and detect security breaches.
  • Solid understanding of troubleshooting system and network problems in a systematic manner to determine root cause.
  • Research, select, and deploy technical enterprise solutions.
  • Tracking and monitoring of systems utilized for the purpose of "uptime".
  • Implement solutions with redundancy and resiliency in mind.
  • Communicate proactively and effectively system-related issues to management and the user community.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to the teams; must be willing to develop the technical skills of other team members whenever possible.
  • Provide level 3 support to proprietary applications.
  • Work as a team to ensure 24x7 elevated support of systems and environments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in the field of computer science and/or at least 5 years' experience working as a Systems Engineer is required. You should possess a strong attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills to succeed in this role.
  • Thorough knowledge of Azure is a must (virtual networks, NSG's, route tables, virtual network gateways, etc..) AZ-104 and AZ-500 a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, and Privilege Identity Management are a must.
  • Knowledge of Fortinet technologies preferred (FortiGate, FortiNAC, FortiAnalyzer, etc..)
  • SDWAN experience preferred.
  • Experience with NOC implementation preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience administering servers in domain environment including installing, troubleshooting, and configuring DNS, DHCP, IIS, Group Policy, and auditing event logs.
  • Experience with VMware and vSphere Infrastructure with a solid understanding of virtualization concepts.
  • Network administration experience (LAN/WAN connectivity, network architecture, network security concepts, firewall administration, remote connectivity (VPN), subnetting, wireless networking).
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and/or the willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with network and systems monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based backup methods and tools.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL Server administration and SQL language a plus.
